After evaluating many club grants, we decided on these clubs to be the recipients of a club grant in 2014. Each club embodied the kind of spirit we pride at CHHS, with each their own unique mission of benefitting the school and local community. We like to recognize clubs that represent CHHS in the best light or provide CHHS Students with out-of-the-classroom opportunities.
CHHS Ultimate Frisbee
A.k.a. CHUF, is a popular sport here at CHHS, however, it is not funded by the school. With over 30 kids, we decided to fund their request for new frisbees.
"Receiving a grant from Student Government went a long way in helping us get better equipment that helped the team tremendously. The grant helped our school community because we give everyone a chance on our team. Everyone is welcome to come give it a shot and those that stay find a very deep and diverse community that they can fit into easily in our area." - Valeri Kozarev, Captain of CHUF
Ocean Bowl Club is made up of students interested in furthering their knowledge of oceanography in a way that isn't available in the every day classroom. The club's providing students with an opportunity to explore their interest led us to fund their fees for the Ocean Bowl competition.
"The club grant we received from Student Government has given us the opportunity to learn more about the oceans in preparation for the annual tournament. Ocean Science Bowl itself has allowed those of us interested in the mysterious, vast ocean to explore oceanography at a much deeper level than we would in any class offered. Student Government's support means a lot to our club as we expand our club in the coming years and continue to provide students with the unique opportunity to explore their interest in oceanography more in depth." -Raymond Chen, Captain of Ocean Bowl
